2026 Huffines Communities Summer Interns

As summer kicks off, Huffines Communities is welcoming a new group of interns ready to dive into the world of real estate development. Over the coming months, they will contribute to a variety of projects across multifamily and master-planned communities, supporting teams in project management, financial analysis, operations, and marketing. From reviewing engineering plans and budgets to assisting with contracts, tracking financials, and creating digital content, they will gain a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to build thriving communities. Before they get started, we sat down with each of them to learn a little more about who they are and what they are hoping to take away from their time here:

Marketing Intern, Claire Hollis

Claire Hollis

School: University of Mississippi

Academic Year: Rising Senior

Major: Integrated Marketing Communications

What are you most excited to learn this summer?

This summer, I am most excited to learn how marketing helps connect people to communities that are more than just homes. I look forward to gaining hands-on experience in creating content, telling brand stories, and applying what I have learned in the classroom to real-world campaigns. I am excited to learn more about digital marketing strategies and see them get developed from an idea to execution.

What are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy playing pickleball, hanging out with friends, and trying new restaurants.

What is one personal or professional goal you have set for yourself this summer?

This summer, I have set a goal for myself to become more confident in my professional communication and marketing skills. I want to take advantage of every opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute ideas with confidence. I hope to strengthen my ability to create engaging content, communicate effectively with team members, and better understand how marketing strategies support business goals.

Marketing Intern, Kyla Wheeless

Kyla Wheeless

School: University of Arkansas

Academic Year: Graduated 2025

Major: B.S.B.A. in Marketing

What are you most excited to learn this summer?

I am most excited to explore how marketing works within real estate development. I love the creative side of marketing and the collaboration that comes with it, so getting to see how those elements apply to an industry like this feels like a great opportunity. I am especially looking forward to being part of projects from the ground up and seeing how a campaign or concept comes to life in a real development setting.

What are some of your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies include running, cooking, and needlepointing.

What is one personal or professional goal you have set for yourself this summer?

My biggest goal this summer is to expand my professional skillset and walk away with a deeper understanding of the real estate industry. I want to soak up as much as I can from the teams around me and grow not just as a marketer, but as someone who understands the bigger picture of how communities are built.

What are some of your hobbies?

I like to golf, run, and spend time with friends.

What is one personal or professional goal you have set for yourself this summer?

One big goal I’ve set for myself this summer is to get efficient with my workflow. I’m really focusing on integrating new AI tools into my daily routine to automate the busy work, which will hopefully free up more time to focus on big-picture strategy and growth.

Development Intern, Gabriel Cooper

Gabriel Cooper

School: Southern Methodist University

Academic Year: Junior

Major: Finance

What are you most excited to learn this summer?

Being new to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I am excited to see the behind-the-scenes of the rapid and booming development and expansion of the metroplex. I am interested in seeing how Huffines Communities seeks out raw land and visualizes potential value, and uses it to provide to the community.

What are some of your hobbies?

In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing, mountaineering, mixed martial arts, and above all, finding new places to eat.

What is one personal or professional goal you have set for yourself this summer?

My primary goal this summer is to absorb as much as I can across the full scope of what Huffines Enterprises and Huffines Communities do. I believe that expanding my network and learning from people who have spent years in this industry is the most valuable experience I could ask for.

Development Intern, Grayson Washburn

Tage Wikstrom

School: Southern Methodist University

Academic Year: Rising Senior

Major: Economics  Minor: Computer Science

What are you most excited to learn this summer?

This summer, I’m joining the team at Huffines Communities to get a ground-level look at master-planned development in DFW.

I’m most excited to dig into land development — understanding how a piece of raw land moves through entitlements, infrastructure, and eventually becomes a finished community. I’m also working to wrap my head around the capital stack and how deals are actually structured and financed.

What are some of your hobbies?

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me building something, out on a long ride, or working through a good book.

What is one personal or professional goal you have set for yourself this summer?

I’m here to learn as much as I can this summer — looking forward to it.
