Under the bright Texas sky, Huffines Communities officially broke ground on Lakesong a 2,700-acre master-planned community destined to become one of the most exciting new neighborhoods in Ellis County. On Thursday, October 16, 2025, nearly one hundred guests gathered at the intersection of Kimble Road and U.S. 287 to celebrate this milestone moment alongside city leaders, partners, and future collaborators.

The event drew a crowd of distinguished guests and partners from across North Texas. In attendance were Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jenson, Grand Prairie City Manager Bill Hills, and Midlothian Mayor Justin Coffman, each offering remarks on the growth, opportunity, and shared vision Lakesong represents for both cities.
Also joining the celebration was District 10 Texas Representative Brian Harrison, who concluded the ceremony with updates about Ellis County’s rapid growth and the region’s bright future.
From city officials to engineers, land planners, and homebuilders, every guest shared in the excitement as dignitaries lifted their golden shovels, officially marking the beginning of a new chapter in Huffines Communities’ legacy.

In true Huffines fashion, the celebration didn’t stop at ground level. Guests were treated to a series of helicopter tours offering a bird’s-eye view of Lakesonfg’s expansive landscape. From above, attendees could see the early progress of Phase 1, which includes approximately 400 homesites, as well as the scenic Padera private lake, the location of the future amenity center, and the community’s proximity to Joe Pool Lake.
The aerial experience captured the scale and beauty of the project, giving visitors a glimpse of the vibrant, connected lifestyle soon to come.

When fully built out, Lakesong will include approximately 5,000 single-family lots, 2,000 multifamily units, and 40 acres of commercial space, blending residential living with local convenience. The community will feature 780 acres of open space, a 100-acre private lake, and a large network of parks and trails designed to inspire connection and outdoor activity.
Amenities will include fishing ponds, swimming pools, pickleball courts, sports facilities, fitness centers, and multiple community centers—all thoughtfully planned to support a lively, active lifestyle.
Phase 1 builders include Brightland Homes (now DRB Homes), Castlerock Communities, Chesmar Homes, Sandlin Homes, and First Texas Homes, with the first model homes expected to open in late 2026.
Lakesong will also feature a premier active-adult community—Del Webb at Lakesong Village—offering approximately 600 homes designed for residents 55 and older. With flexible two- and three-bedroom floor plans, resort-style amenities, and an exclusive private amenity center, this enclave will provide comfort, connection, and quality craftsmanship tailored to active adults.
